Recovery

Honesty is the best policy.
Honesty is my best policy.
Honesty is my best and only policy.
2013 has been a funny one so far. Looking back it's hard for me to say if I've had a good year or not.
Wait. No. Nope.
I've had a good year, I know I have, but I guess what I'm trying to say is that I haven't always been in the best state of mind where recognising the good things has been easy. And I realise that this blog isn't often a serious one but I owe some form of explanation as to why I've been so rubbish. And that's it.
I've been in a right funk.
And I think that's okay.

But if my choice to resume blogging means something, it's probably that my funk is getting distinctly less funkier.
So here's to the future.

Keep On Truckin'

P.S.
My housemate wouldn't take photos unless I did some errr, "quality" posing, hence the two middle pictures m'kay.

Blogging Day

Yeah, i am re-naming Boxing Day!

Just thought i'd share a few Christmas pictures, i sparsely documented my day with Instagram which i have become re-addicted to of late, i think it might be the ease of using it when there is a high speed wireless Internet connection (something my Uni, sadly, does not offer!).

I was extremely lucky to get the most amazing set of pressies this year! Everything from a LUSH gift card to beautiful quilted blanket and of course enough edibles to feed me for the rest of winter :)

I hope everyone else had an amazing day or if you're yet to celebrate then i hope it goes well! I ended up drinking a jug of rum, lime and lemonade, covering myself in glitter and flowers and raving it up with my cousin before calming down and watching the Inbetweeners Movie - Genius!

the shortest day of the year

HAPPY WINTER SOLSTICE

holiday rulez stipulate i must make an awesum picture on paint!

My Dad, in all his beardy wisdom and glory, is a wiccan, soooo; me and him do the whole Yule thing. We never make a huge fuss and for me a lot of it is an excuse to spend proper time with my Daddy (even more so now i'm no longer living at home). On occasion we go out and we have done the sunrise shindig before but more often than not we exchange one gift each, cook and eat a big fatty meal and then chat or watch telly or play scrabble (all accompanied by wine or port or whatever booze is in the house!).

This year i made what can only be described as an super huge and tasty Italian inspired feast and it was proper lovely. I took a bunch of instagrams throughout the day so prepare to be spammed!

1 - solstice sky
2 - my brekkie
3 - present from dad
4 - roasted courgette and pepper with balsamic vinegar*
5 - prosciutto wrapped chicken stuffed with mozzarella and pesto*
6 - pesto, sun dried tomatoes and mozzarella on ciabatta*

*yes i am dope at cooking, and also eating too.

Details

Went to a friend's gig last night. Hadn't had my eardrums torn to shreds by live hardcore in a while and plus my beautiful friend Lauren was there so i got to say farewell to her.
Put together what i thought was a crackin' outfit but i've packed my tripod so decided to focus on detail shots of a few things.

I'm so i love with the skull and axes earring. I found it with some beads and buttons; turns out it used to be my dad's! From back in his biker/rocker/punk days. The rest of of the ear stuff is fairly standard and for those interested i'm wearing a Doroth Perkins dress and an Evil Twin shirt from ASOS.

In other news i am all packed up and ready to move into my new room at uni tomorrow. Just have to pack away this beast of a laptop and i'm done. Tonight i'm off to my Grandparent's house which is pretty much the halfway point distance wise, we're going out for a meal to celebrate a couple of birthdays and my move into higher education and hopefully doing something worthwhile with my life :)
I'll probably be offline for a couple of days whilst i settle in but should be back in full force by the middle of next week.
Wish me luck 'all!

Packing

As many of you lovely readers may know, i'm off to university at the end of this week.
I'm moving into uni managed accommodation aka halls and i've just started some serious packing today.

The closer it gets, the more real it feels. I guess subconsciously i'd convinced myself that nothing was changing and that i'd go on living my comfy little life i've spent two years building, with my friends and family neatly wrapped around me like a big warm blanket.
But i'm getting so very conscious of the fact that i now have 3 days left of living here and soon i'll be writing this blog and living my life out of a new room in a new city.
I had a leaving dinner with two friends last night, i held it together for my time with them but cried like a baby as soon as i got home.
Bottom line is, i'm scared.
This is scary.

But i know it's just the "jump" that's scary and once i'm in free fall i'll be fine.

I'm not really sure why i'm writing this. Just needed to get it out i suppose, without a flurry of immediate vocal responses. I appreciate people's reassurances, i do, but sometimes it doesn't matter what people say; it is what it is and you feel how you feel.

bake-a-thon

I actually haven't stopped today. Well, except for now, so i could write this. But as soon as i hit post i have to start packing for the weekend so all in all, not much of a break : ) Basically i worked my last day at my job yesterday and decided to spend my first day of unemployment baking lovely things to eat whilst i laze about in my tent this weekend, drinking and enjoying awesome company. I made Chocolate, Lime and Chilli Bread
& Triple Chocolate Brownies
In all honesty if this little stash and my bottle of rum don't see me through this weekend then something is wrong. I'm off to reenact the English Civil War, which is my hobby of 20 years now and i'm not even a tiny bit ashamed or apologetic. People seem to think that it's geeky and boring but trust me when i say it is awesome! I know a lot of fellow Brits will be spending their weekends at either Reading or Leeds festivals (essentially the same as my weekend except swap the music for history) and i hope that's amazing for those going. Pretty sure it's just a standard weekend for the rest of the world but wherever you are and whatever you're doing i hope it is bloody wonderful! Until Wednesday - Peace!

Tonsillitis

So after a day and a bit of feeling worse than i have ever felt in my whole life (i am very rarely ill beyond a long cold or cough) i took the day off work and dragged my achey self to the Doctor. Turns out i have Tonsillitis which for the record, sucks!
I'm on antibiotics and bed rest and the doctor told me i had a "very impressive fever". Turns out that when i do get sick, i get really sick!
So i guess the point is that things will be quiet on the outfit front, mostly because A) i am in no fit state to be in front of a camera and B) i'm pretty much just gonna live in my PJ's until i go back to work.
Hopefully though i might do some other posts where i dont need to post pictures of myself!

If any of you out there have had tonsillitis before i just want to say; well done for surviving. If the symptoms don't kill me then the next few days stuck in the house will!

Quality Time

I went for a little picnic with my Dad today. Just us, by the river, chillin'.
It's sort of hitting me now that in a couple of months i'm not going to be living at home anymore and whilst i am of course, very excited, i'm also aware of how much i will miss certain people!
So yeah, i'm getting my quality time in now!

DRESS(WORN AS SKIRT):PRIMARK TOP:NEW LOOK JACKET:DOROTHY PERKINS BRACELET:H&M NECKLACE:GIFT

I wore two of my favourite trends today, my most loved recent addition to my wardrobe and some beautiful jewellery i'd forgotten all about!
The stripes and maxi trends have by far been my favourites for summer, totally digging almost every striped item i see and y'all know how much i love maxi's (go maxi or go home, that's my motto!) Anyone got any favourite trends that they've worn to death like me?
This denim is the recent addition i am loving, i've never found a denim jacket that fitted so well and looked so good and i know this is sleeveless so is more aesthetic as opposed to practical but whatever, i love it!
And the forgotten jewellery is everything i'm wearing, i bought the bracelet from the H&M men's section (best for accessories IMHO) and i found the necklace lurking in the bottom of a jewellery box, it was a gift to which i added the vintage tooth pendant.

So i had my afternoon with Pa and tonight i'm hangin' with some of my girls (Hello Pizza!), then i'm spending my Sunday making arty shiz and drinking tea! Hope you all have a beautiful weekend and if you're a Brit, woohoo for the sunshine!! : )

In Pictures...

Sunday 17th July 2011 -

1 - Waking up after a long sleep is always good, even if it is grey outside.
2 - My tea collection.
3 - Tea & Cigarettes.
4 - My favourite bread for toasting.
5 - Toast!
6 - My two cats, apparently they were thirsty.
7 - Conditioning the hell out of my hair.
8 - My new bag from ASOS.
9 and 10 - Rose Incense, it smells so amazing i can't actually stop burning it.
11 - The ultimate lazy weekend clothes: Leggings and a Basketball Jersey.
12 and 13 - A sample of my soundtrack.

I have had an absolutely beautiful, chilled out, mellow, lovely weekend! I was meant to be going away but decided against it in favour of relaxing and spending time with some pretty awesome people.
Today however was purely self indulgent me time. I got up late, strolled about the house in my undies, had a shower, listened to music with the volume all the way up and just did a whole ton of generally amazing things.
Does anyone else just absolutely love weekends or days like that? Where you just forget all responsibility and do completely your own thing?
I love it. It definitely topped off my weekend perfectly.
Get up to anything interesting this weekend? If so, i want to hear all about it, please : )
