Recovery

TOP:ASOS CURVE LEGGINGS&HOODY:PRIMARK SHOES:VANS@OFFICE

Honesty is the best policy.
Honesty is my best policy.
Honesty is my best and only policy.
2013 has been a funny one so far. Looking back it's hard for me to say if I've had a good year or not.
Wait. No. Nope.
I've had a good year, I know I have, but I guess what I'm trying to say is that I haven't always been in the best state of mind where recognising the good things has been easy. And I realise that this blog isn't often a serious one but I owe some form of explanation as to why I've been so rubbish. And that's it.
I've been in a right funk.
And I think that's okay.

But if my choice to resume blogging means something, it's probably that my funk is getting distinctly less funkier.
So here's to the future.

Keep On Truckin'

P.S.
My housemate wouldn't take photos unless I did some errr, "quality" posing, hence the two middle pictures m'kay.

Priorities

COAT:EVANS(OLD) LEGGINGS:PRIMARK BOOTS:DR MARTENS TOP:ASOS CURVE

Bringing this coat back from the depths of my wardrobe was either a great or terrible decision. It's really fucking old, it's broken and to be honest it might be about as fashionable as wearing a plastic bag as a hat.
Buuuuut, it is also warm, comfortable, surprisingly easy to wear with most outfits and comes with pockets full of teenage angst (well, Tesco receipts from when I was at college actually but that's basically the same thing).

I bought this top from ASOS what must be years ago now and I've nearly gotten rid of it so many times but something always makes me hold onto it. Not sure if it has appeared on here before or not but I honestly can say I still don't know how I feel about it.
Thoughts?
 Yay or Nay?

I've noted a real absence of comments on the last few posts, I mean page views are at an all time high (thanks BTW!) but there's no vocal response coming.
I love hearing from readers, no matter if you've just dropped in for one post or are a regular and if commenting here doesn't suit you please feel very welcome to tweet or Tumblr me instead.
I also am very welcoming to suggestions for BMB, is there something in particular you'd like to see?
SPEAK UP!

sudden urge to blog

DRESS:H&M BELT:ASOS CURVE SHOES:NEW LOOK

DRESS:ASOS CURVE BELT:PRIMARK SHOES:NEW LOOK

So i'm sat watching Miami Vice (the TV show) and I get the sudden overwhelming urge to blog. So I scramble around my hard rive and find these beauties from a couple of recent nights out.
Where I basically wore the same outfit.
Oh well, if it aint broke, don't fix it!

The belt in the top picture and dress in the bottom are recent additions that I truly love and intend to get LOTS of use out of. What you cant see in this picture is that the ASOS dress has a lovely wrap style design to the front so is quite different from the H&M fit and flare number :)

Gotta love your boozed up friends and the fact that, even after a few too many lemonades, they can still take a decent outfit shot!

Winter Wishlist Vol. 2

Coats & Jackets

DOROTHY PERKINS

ASOS CURVE

DOROTHY PERKINS

Normally, I spend my winters lamenting my lack of money because there are so many wonderful coats I want. This year, as per tradition, is no fucking different!

I decided to post these because they're a little different to my usual choice of coat which is black, wool and hooded (for practicality reasons).

I'm also really liking the leather sleeve coats that are back this season and as far as retailers go, ASOS Curve is smashing it coat/jacket wise for me!
Anyone else got a personal favourite style of coat or store to get a coat from?

A Certain Romance

T-SHIRT:ASOS CURVE LEGGINGS:PRIMARK SHORTS:DIY SHOES:NIKE@OFFICE

Well this is my "It's Sunday & I can't be fucked." Outfit. Not bad for the stuff that was literally closest/easiest to put on :)
After a long time really hating shorts, diy-ing all my old jeans into cut offs has made me fall pretty hard for them,  if only we had some sunny weather for me to feel like they were appropriate (LOL, i am never appropriate!) but seriously though, it's July now, we've had about 3-4 weeks of nice weather in this whole year, i dunno, it'd be nice to have some more, kthx.

These trainers are my ultimate super awesome bargain trainers. Sometimes i get a bit pissed that i have large feet because i never really like the colours they make in my size but at £25 in the sale down from like £80, i freaked out when i saw these and made a lot of my male friends prettttyyyy jealous by snaggin' the last pair, sorry boys!

seriously, i might even try and find a reason to leave the house today (smoking in the garden doesn't count!) i'm diggin this whole get up. It's amazing what a pair of earrings and some nice shoes can do to bed hair and a tee i grabbed of the floor (no shame)

Speaking of no shame, here's some outtakes:
1: Balance Issues
2: Out of focus face

Downtown

BLOUSE:ASOS CURVE JEANS:DOROTHY PERKINS SHOES:NEW LOOK

So this was my hittin' the town outfit on saturday night. I love that this top went on sale at ASOS, i would have been pretty annoyed at myself for spending it's full price because now i am a student bum, that's like, a weeks worth of food! Apologies for red eye, my editor doesn't really remove it too well!!! If someone wants to buy me photoshop, well that'd be lovely :)

Here's me and my babe Lauren, she's been featured on BMB many a time, 'cos she's fine

Morning 18/7/2011

VEST&TOP:H&M JEGGINGS:EVANS BAG&JACKET:ASOS SHOES:NEW LOOK

This morning was a little bit annoying, these pictures are about the only good thing to come out of it. I woke up to rain and a completely failed pin curl that left me with 70's porn hair (hence the up do). I usually walk to work in my uniform but i couldn't face a day in wet clothes so decided to wear this for the walk.
It's just another good example of a really simple casual outfit liiiike; this. The jacket is from ASOS Curve and i bought it in the sale after desperately wanting it since it first appeared but apparently not enough to pay full price : )
I'm so in love with my new bag, i think it makes this ensemble really. I've always been black only when it comes to everyday bags but i can see that changing now!

I'm off out to dinner tonight. Wagamama's with my lovely friend Hayley. No idea what i'm wearing but if it comes out good i'll post on it tomorrow, along with pictures of all out tasty food!

OOTD: Everything's Rosy

I had me a little picnic by a stream at the weekend, with various family and people. It was sunny, but not sweaty weather. There was cider and ducks and cheese and oh, yeah, this little number:

PLAYSUIT:ASOS CURVE TIGHTS:TESCO SHOES:EVANS BLACK TOP:DOROTHY PERKINS
(looks like i'm pulling a G face: thuggin.)

When this arrived i threw it on and in all honesty didn't know if i liked it. But i played around with it and decided that i'd make it work.
Now i'm not one for tooting my own horn but, i think i did a pretty good job.
The problem i have is that without tying the belt tight and in just the right place this looks like a really pretty bin bag on me. Probably because i order a size 26 which is one or two sizes bigger than i really need and i do that because i like the extra room and length.
My other playsuit, also from ASOS Curve, was an instant hit for me but comparing the two i realised that the fabric of the other one is a lot heavier so drapes nicer and the belt stays flat.

I do love this, i just think it will take some time for me to get really get into it. But i imagine that come summer i'll basically be living in the thing!

Now i have a friend coming down to stay this week so i honestly don't know what i'll be doing when it comes to the ol' blog.
I don't see her often so i'm not gonna sit around blogging while she's here spesh for me y'know! But i'll try and squeeze a post in; i'm sure we'll be getting up to some fancy mischief in the bars of Exeter so maybe i'll post our outfits!

OOTD: Maxi

I forgot out planet revolved around a sun until yesterday, when for a brief few hours it decided to shine.
This seemed like the perfect excuse to take some photos of what i was wearing so here they are!

DRESS:ASOS CURVE SHIRT:TESCO SUNGLASSES:PRIMARK

So it was sunny but i had nowhere to go, hence the trés grungy plaid shirt over maxi dress posing in neglected back garden look.
I don't know if i mentioned it on here, but i got my hair did. Well, i dyed it myself with two packets of bleach in the bathroom, i got bored and this is the outcome.

Every single bit of this outfit was a bargain, the dress was bought on sale for under £20, the shirt is from the men's section in Tesco and was £14 and the sunnies were £1. Can't go wrong.
I spent a lot of time in this dress last summer because it's such a cool fabric (as in not too hot) and it's really easy to wear.
Downside is; the dress is a tad see through : /
The shirt is 2 sizes too big for me and softer than a baby sheep, that's all there is to it. It's amazing.

I'm now off to Bristol for the weekend for a friend's birthday. Binge drinking and dancing is in order, i can't wait.
I've got lots of things i want to post about next week and i hoping i can do one a day, lovely : )

Have a beautiful weekend lovelies ♥

++ LDN (part three)

Okay, this is likely to be the most unorganised post about Plus London just because i completely forgot to write things down so it's all gonna come back to me in little chunks!
I carry a note book everywhere so i can write this shit down, i feel a proper fool.

So first of all, i am really grateful to those who sponsored the event because it's amazing to know there is support for the plus sized community out there and also because i got to bring home a stack of free stuff which is without a doubt always nice : )

There were some collection previews and I saw stuff from

Carmakoma:
I've looked at their website a handful of times and was impressed with what i saw but now i've seen the clothes for realz and not just on the internets i am sure i will buy from them. They have a really good mix of garments at reasonable prices and from what i could tell inspecting their samples everything is great quality.
Both me and Theresa loved this shirt:
Detail Shot
I also loved the colours on this, which i think was a dress/top/tunic but it was a week ago so don't hold me to that!
The Carmakoma rep who was there was also lovely, and beautiful (it kills me to say this but i have no idea what her name is!) she wandered about taking photos and asking for people's blog names and just generally being awesome so yeah, props for that, very good job. Carmakoma Blog Link.

H&M Inclusive:
Only 3 pieces from this line there and i didn't take any photos but i do remember being impressed by the focus on detail. There was a white cardigan that got a lot of love from people which had sequins/beading on the front and there was a green dress that had ruffle sorta things that were really well constructed.

Yours:
Never bought anything from them but have read plenty of good reviews, their stuff generally doesn't appeal to me and i find the website a bit messy so i very rarely even look. However i do remember seeing some amazing promo shots a while back that were styled to perfection and the few items they previewed were nice enough.

Torrid:
Oooohh Torrid. I just feel like 80% of the stuff looks like cheap market fodder. That is very much a personal opinion and i have seen some good stuff on many bloggers but a pink netting and black jersey bustier thing? Not my cup of tea at all. And i haven't heard amazing things about quality either. I'm going to the states in April and plan to check some stuff out in person and maybe then i can do a better review.

ASOS Curve:
Y'all know my love for this brand and the things they previewed just cemented that love. I'll let the pictures talk.
My Favourite!
T's Favourite, I told her she looked like a sexy Inspector Gadget

Anna Scholz:
Okay, i am not a fan of this brand. I can easily see why people are and i think it does what it does amazingly well, however most of the stuff just is not for me. That point aside the reps for Anna Scholz were amazing, helpful and friendly, the amount of clothes they had there was insane and i left with a good handful of leaflets and a cd of high res pictures so i am very impressed. The company is clearly built on having a good relationship with it's customers and i think that is awesome.
I did really love one print they had though because it reminded me on Matthew Williamson's Fall 2008 Digital Flower Print which is one of my favourite prints ever!

So there is my little round up of things, i have probably left some maayyjahhh thing out and if i have i'm sorry, but i'm only human : )

OOTD: Peter Pan

Peter Pan is one of my favourite books and a constant source of inspiration (i never want to grow up!) so therefore i consider it about damn time i jumped on the trend that is Peter Pan Collars.
And here i am, donning one:

DRESS:ASOS CURVE TIGHTS:TESCO

COAT:VINTAGE SHOES:EVANS

I also had earrings from Dorothy Perkins and a ring from Evans on but you can't really see them and i forgot to take close ups, soz!

I had my reservations about buying this dress, i desperately wanted the black and white but had no money, then it sold out. I decided it was okay cos i thought it wasn't quite the right Peter Pan for me (i wanted a bigger collar) but then Stephanie posted herself in it and i decided i needed it, i didn't mind having to get camel, i've been wanting something in this colour for ages!
I really like it, but i do feel like it makes me shoulders look even broader and head look smaller, i dunno. It could be because i was having an off day with my appearance, like my hair wouldn't do what i wanted and felt really blerrgghh (hence the pissing about in the last photo).

This whole outfit reminded me of Sally from Louder than Silence. Pretty rad blog so do have a click yes!

It's only a day until PLUS LONDON now. I am beyond excited to the point that i kept thinking it was Friday today, talk about disappointment, thinking it was and then realising it wasn't 4 times!
I have to be out of bed by 05:30AM at the latest so i am hoping wishing and preying that i can get to sleep early tomorrow night otherwise i'll never make it around London all day, and night!
Any tips that do not involve alcohol or drugs would be appreciated (someone mentioned that they could get me mild sedatives earlier, i was this close to doing it, this is how desperate i am to not be tired people!).

Been listening to this today, a whole lot:

Probably no post until sunday/monday now. Unless i find the time tomorrow, but i'm not sure how that'll happen.
: )

Dress Me Up

ASOS Curve is hitting it out of the park day after day at the moment. Their dresses are pushing all the right buttons and i'd like to own at least these 4 before we hit summer 2011*:

1 // 2 // 3 // 4

I'm also currently dribbling over these items as well:

I'm a winter lover but i am more than ready for some lovely sunshine now. I have a huge collection of warm day outfits crammed into my head and very little patience. I also seem to be having some kind of love affair with colour at the moment which bodes well for the sunny days. I normally find myself in despair when something i love doesn't come in black but as you can see, my recent choices in items have bucked that trend.

Bring on the sunshine!

*ASOS Curve, i mention you in a very favourable light quite often and i was just wondering if you'd send me these for free? Thanks : )

OOTD: Cinderella

Last Saturday was the final performance of the Cinderella, the pantomime i was in this year.
I played Grizelda, Cinders' evil stepmother.
I had an amazing time and I'm gonna share a few photos : )

1: My lovely Drag Queen Daughter, Bimbo. And her sister Belle in the background.
2: Me and Steve, the guy who played my husband!
3: Buttons and Cinderella! AKA Dave and Kate, two lovely people!
4: Our two Horses who looked amazing with their fairy lights and horse hats.

I have about a million more pictures, especially from our last performance. But i won't bore you with them.

Anyway, on to the main point of the post.
Sunday night was the After show Party, it was a week later than normal but whatever, a party is a party!
I got quite dolled up, people at panto are used to seeing me in stage makeup with crazy bad hair from having to backcomb the hell out of it every night and i was on a bit of a mission to prove i could be presentable.

 DRESS:ASOS CURVE TIGHTS:EVANS NECKLACE:DIY

I have maayyjjahhh love for this dress, it was half price, fits amazingly well and is gorgeous. So happy i bought it! There's not much more to say on the outfit really.
I will however, very quickly mention that this colour is the worst one to wear when you have a habit of spilling wine down your front, it leads to people saying you have "Nipple Dribble" when you've just splashed a bit of rosé on your boob. You know who you are, person who shouted that across the pub : )

I re-cut my fringe in, which means it is a bit uneven but whatever. I was very bored and inspired by the hoards of hipster bloggers who have full and shiny fringes, i needed to try the whole thing again after a disastrous attempt in the summer when for some reason i just could not get along with my (hairdresser cut!!) fringe.

It's been so long since i did an OOTD the whole thing is feeling a bit strange.
Think i just need to get into the swing of things!

OOTD: Hammer Time

Yeah, my new trousers make me feel a bit MC Hammer-y. Hence the title.

I'd like to start by just getting this semi-negative (and quite long winded) bit out the way first.
I ordered these trousers a couple weeks back, along with these. I got 20% off code and they had a buy before 5PM and get free next day delivery thang going on so that was lovely. However...
First up, unless my eyes are messed up, they look quite brown in the photo, sandy-browny-greenish. In real life these are bona fide army green. Like standard issue washed out uniform green. Which is fine, because i can roll with that, but the picture fo shiz mislead me. So yeah, be warned all is not as it seems. I will also add at this point that the other pair, briefly mentioned above, but not pictured in this post are less shiny and less pink that the photo, a friend called them camel, i'd agree but say with a hint of pink.
Secondly, the pair i'm posting on today are my second pair of the same ones, the first either came ripped or ripped as i put them on. Basically they're made of very soft cotton twill, which in my humble opinion is a free spirit sorta fabric and when you try and hem it, it pulls. Which incidentally is what happened with mine, the whole side seam on the left leg went. I emailed ASOS asking if i could still return even though i'd removed the tags, they sent an email back straight away informing me they'd sent out a replacement pair and given me 10% off my next order. This is obviously great customer service but if they'd have given me a choice i'd rather have exchanged for something else (i've got trouser paranoia, i keep checking the seams), and also the replacement pair were a size smaller than my original order, they still fit but they're less roomy, i couldn't be arsed with sending them back and emailing again so left it.
All in all i am still perfectly happy to shop at ASOS and still love the trousers but i felt the need to explain everything, especially about the colour.

TROUSERS&T-SHIRT:ASOS CURVE JACKET:DOROTHY PERKINS SHOES:EVANS

Despite the above issues, i do love these trousers. I think they're very true to size, comfy and easy to wear. Like this took me two seconds to throw on (i'm wearing less than 5 layers for the first time in weeks, we've had solid ice in our garden for ages but it melted this morning).
I went Christmas shopping, ugh, i hate huge crowds of people and looong queues for everything. I'm nearly done now though so hopefully i can just avoid town until Christmas. The only pre Christmas shopping i like is the big supermarket shop, for two reasons. One: fancy alcohol and food, being able to put anything in the trolley with the excuse of "It's crimbo!". Two: it's crowded and people are rude and ignorant so i get to put my war face on, i'm tempted to actually paint myself blue or something this year, i march through Tesco getting my stuff and take no shit, it's the best way to blow off steam : )

You'll notice i have once again taken my photos in a slightly different way. Basically from now on it will hopefully always look like this, now i've worked out that i can rest my tripod on my bed and still take level pictures. Please excuse the mess of clothes in the corner, i'm a proper messy madam sometimes.

Oh, yeah, i got some awesome £10 shoes today and new beauty stuff so i will likely add these to the "Stuff i need to post on" list. (I christmas shop for myself as well as everyone else, do any of you do this?!? : D)

OOTD: Brand Spanking New

I did an uber bumper post on all my current ASOS Curve Cravings the other day, be sure to check it out if you haven't already, let me know what you like and leave links to other stuff, i love hearing what everyone is feeling or not feeling.
Anyways, as i was doing that post the site updated and this beauty of a dress appeared from nowhere and yesterday i got an email saying "Have this 20% off code, and free delivery if you order before 6PM today", which is virtually the same as an Internet fashion being was personally hand delivering this dress to me, lets face it.

DRESS:ASOS CURVE TIGHTS:PROBABLY TESCO OR EVANS

So yeah, about 27 hours ago i ordered this baby and paid under £30. I'm quite impressed and could not wait to get it over my head when it arrived this morning. I wore it around and about today, i went to Lush to buy all natural face lovelies and all the chicas there were painted up for Día de los Muertos which despite the fact i'm not Mexican, has got to be one of my favourite holidays ever. I'm forever reading shit loads of info. about it and looking at pictures. I'm actually really interested in religion and religious festivals, i wouldn't call myself religious but i find it really awe inspiring a lot of the time, the things people get up to in the name of a god or saint or spirit and the traditions that come with it. Another favourite is Holi, beautiful.
I threw my leather on over this for warmth and wore my basic black Evans pumps and a few silver rings:
pretty simple really, thought I'd let that awesome print and my bright red lips do all the talkin'.

I'm still wearing it now, seriously, talk about comfy. However the weather has gone nuts here so i've put a big chunky black cardie on, some nice thick and fluffy bed socks over my tights and my face is currently like this:
Can you spot the stamp from last night?

Am i turning into Terry Richardson? Prepare for a blog full of thumbs up, plaid shirts, tits and jared leto.

V.S.

ASOS CURVE LOVE.
And on the month i really need to save money. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

DRESSES:

The blue one reminds me of my other similarly coloured ASOS Curve dress but i'm loving the different sleeves. The black showcases my love for texture if i'm working an all black thing.

TOPS:
I have a strange thing for hook and eye fastenings. I think it's to do with my love for corsets where you often see them. I also like the blue version of this'un.

TROUSERS:

There was a Musings of a Fatshionista Facebook post on the top pair. Agreeing with the post i wish they came in black; aside from that the cut and fabric are on point. I've posted on the bottom pair before, not a lot of love for these but now i've seen them on real people, other bloggers in fact, i'm so in love it hurts, i spy another frugal month.

MISC:
Old. School. Glam. Nothing else to say.

I'm not sure what the obsession with shiny fabric is about, it's not like it tends to be hugely flattering (i want to eject this word from my style consciousness, and I'm trying, but stick with me) but i have to admit i think the strong studio lighting used in these shots amplifies the shiny a whole lot. And also, when you look at the construction and style of the garments i think shiny is becoming something i'm much less afraid of.
ASOS Curve has given me so much already, and now it's curing my shineaphobia. I'm rather grateful for this online gem of a store.
