Rings Rings Rings

RINGS:PRIMARK

The thinner ones are from a multi-pack but that chunky bad man was a 50p bargain I picked up whilst waiting to pay! I love it so much I may have to have a silver version made when I can afford it. Yeah, that's gonna have to happen.

moon in the water

NECKLACE:CRYSTALS BELT:GIFT

This is just a mini post with some details for an outfit I wore a couple weeks back. I love moonstone and this necklace is especially pretty, the photo doesn't do it justice.

I've been performing for one of my modules of late (hello second biggest part in the play!) on top of doing the farewell for xmas rounds so basically, it's been a bit manic. I'm at home in Exeter now, sans tripod and 99% of my clothes so as soon as I'm at Grandma's with more luggage and equipment I'm gonna post more often.
Apologies for the absence, if you even noticed it :)

To cover me for the next couple of days i'm going to schedule some random picture posts from nights out where I managed to capture an outfit, or most of one anyway!

Hope everyone is having a good run up to Christmas and if you've already celebrated some or all of your winter festivities then I hope they were brilliant too <3

beauty post: necklace nails

As i was getting dressed i remembered the bargain £1 necklace i bought in Edinburgh and decided to wear it.

Then i decided to match my nails to it, because that's what all the cool kids do these days...

I used Rimmel 60 Seconds in 805 Grey Matter as my base as i already had it on. Then I taped off sections and used Rimmel 60 Seconds in 825 Sky High, Barry M 308 Berry Ice Cream, Barry M 320 Foil (gold) and Barry M 300 Acid Yellow to make triangle-y shapes.
It was super easy and came out pretty neat!
I'll be bored of it by tomorrow but if i was in a more committing mood I'd slap a top coat over it all to keep it fresh for a couple days :)

Lady

DRESS:ASDA BELT:MARKET STALL SHOES:PRIMARK

Random Story: Got this dress mad cheap ages ago when i popped into an Asda in Bristol to buy pasta. It was like £4 or something.
The seams have ripped and been repaired (by me, skillzzz!) but whatever, £4, i shall not complain!

My hair has gotten so freakin long man!

Other notes about this post:
It proves a point i made HERE. That i have no set style aesthetic. Last OOTD was all grunge and boots and 90's hair. Today i look like a 1940's Italian Mamma minus some seamed stockings and a sensible heel.

Stormy Weather

TOP:FOREVER 21 SKIRT:PRIMARK HAT:ACCESSORIZE BELT:MARKET

This is my "summer on the bottom, winter up top" outfit. It's sunny but freezing so i consider it appropriate! I bought this hat in the sale yesterday, i'd not seen anyone wearing it before and then on the way home i saw 2 people wearing it, or one very similar, typical!
I don't have a very exciting day planned, i need to do laundry and take a photo for my project365 and then all that's left is packing for the re-enactment weekend ahead.
Because i have all this free time i am reading once again. This time it is Memoirs of a Geisha. Then i have 3 other books on the "To Read" pile and by the time i'm done i figure my semester 2 exams will have started, so i'm set really :)

Today Billie Holiday influenced the post title. Buuuut, i think i still love Etta James' version of Stormy Weather a little better...
I think.

Details

Went to a friend's gig last night. Hadn't had my eardrums torn to shreds by live hardcore in a while and plus my beautiful friend Lauren was there so i got to say farewell to her.
Put together what i thought was a crackin' outfit but i've packed my tripod so decided to focus on detail shots of a few things.

I'm so i love with the skull and axes earring. I found it with some beads and buttons; turns out it used to be my dad's! From back in his biker/rocker/punk days. The rest of of the ear stuff is fairly standard and for those interested i'm wearing a Doroth Perkins dress and an Evil Twin shirt from ASOS.

In other news i am all packed up and ready to move into my new room at uni tomorrow. Just have to pack away this beast of a laptop and i'm done. Tonight i'm off to my Grandparent's house which is pretty much the halfway point distance wise, we're going out for a meal to celebrate a couple of birthdays and my move into higher education and hopefully doing something worthwhile with my life :)
I'll probably be offline for a couple of days whilst i settle in but should be back in full force by the middle of next week.
Wish me luck 'all!

Evening 18/7/2011

COAT:VINTAGE DRESS&LEGGINGS:DOROTHY PERKINS BAG:ASOS SHOES:NEW LOOK

I just got in from yummy food and delicious cocktails with beautiful company. I only wanted to post because of my love for this coat, isn't it stunning? I spotted it in a vintage shop and then my dad bought it thinking he could pull it off with jeans and a t-shirt, he can't, but that's fine because i get primary use of the thing (he insists on calling it his!) I bet a bunch of you are LOL-ING your faces off at the thought of a grown ass man wearing a women's purple faux fur coat but to be fair to him, he does love the 70's trippy shit and if he strolled about in Hendrix like ensembles he could probably make it work. Problem is, he doesn't. My dad is a man of cargo pants and t-shirts, which is fine, but doesn't really work with eccentric outerwear : )

Morning 18/7/2011

VEST&TOP:H&M JEGGINGS:EVANS BAG&JACKET:ASOS SHOES:NEW LOOK

This morning was a little bit annoying, these pictures are about the only good thing to come out of it. I woke up to rain and a completely failed pin curl that left me with 70's porn hair (hence the up do). I usually walk to work in my uniform but i couldn't face a day in wet clothes so decided to wear this for the walk.
It's just another good example of a really simple casual outfit liiiike; this. The jacket is from ASOS Curve and i bought it in the sale after desperately wanting it since it first appeared but apparently not enough to pay full price : )
I'm so in love with my new bag, i think it makes this ensemble really. I've always been black only when it comes to everyday bags but i can see that changing now!

I'm off out to dinner tonight. Wagamama's with my lovely friend Hayley. No idea what i'm wearing but if it comes out good i'll post on it tomorrow, along with pictures of all out tasty food!

Gothic Hippie Vibes

TOP&SANDALS:EVANS DRESS(WORN AS SKIRT):PRIMARK

SUNGLASSES:H&M HAIR THING:ACCESSORISE BELT:GIFT RING:EVANS

Although yesterday was a perfect summer day (not too hot and not too humid) someone decided to wear all black...
I think i was driven to it by the peacock feathers, i bought this thing, whatever it is, (I don't think a bit of leather with beads and feathers and shit attached has an official name, correct me if i am wrong!) last summer and haven't worn it since. I love it, i just didn't find a good time. Anyway, i wanted to wear it yesterday and went for all black so it stuck out which then meant i focused most of my attention on accessories.
I love jewellery and belts and all that jazz but i've never considered myself one of those people who is an accessories goddess. Like some people wear really ornate statement pieces and always pick the most beautiful stuff but for me it tends to just be a cycle of the same things like my sterling silver jewellery (most of which is sentimental and not fashionable),  plain belts, standard black bag and whatever sunglasses go with the clothes i have on. And if i do wear lots of accessories it's never a real conscious effort, i just kinda do it. So the point i'm getting to is that yesterday was a nice change from being clothes driven and i think i'll be using the stuff in my jewellery box more often!

I had a fantastic day shopping my arse off and i'll probably post a little bit of what i bought later if i get round to it. It was my last chance to go nuts really because from now on it's all save, save, save ready for uni. Which i'm starting to get very excited and nervous about!!!

I hope y'all had/are having a lovely weekend whatever you're up to : )

b is for bracelets

BRACELET - £16.50 - EVANS

BRACELET - £12.50 - EVANS

Just two of a selection of bracelets/cuffs I've seen recently that really appeal to me. I'm loving a lot of High Street jewellery at the moment but my judgement always stops me from buying much that is priced above £5. I just don't think it's worth it when half the stuff breaks or turns you green. It's hard to resist though, when they make it so pretty!
