The Tide Is High

T-SHIRT:DOROTHY PERKINS TROUSERS:ASOS CURVE HOODY:H&M

The lighting in my room is so shocking all my pictures are rubbish at the moment, sry guyz :/ This is really a typical outfit for me at the moment. Sort of tomboy-ish? I dunno. I mean i spend 90% of my time living in my Dr. M's too and i think they have a more masculine edge. I actually really love this colour combination, the muted green/khaki with the dull burgundy of the hoody, it's all good :)

I'm seriously debating chopping all my hair off at the moment, it would just be easier and, well, easier. I've had it short before but i can't seem to get myself 100% that it's the right thing to do. It hasn't grown in a while and i'm very bored and the ends are in terrible condition from bleaching.
And what i'm really saying is: thoughts?? Let me know please!

Friday Night & an OOTD

I woke up today in the best mood, i've had a lovely weekend and today was just the icing on the cake.
I'll start at the beginning:

On Friday night me and two of my girls hit the town. It was incredibly messy and fun and amazing.
L to R: Frankie, Me and Hayley, i love these ladies.

As you can see i bought the ASOS Curve play suit, it's amazing and i wanted to save it for the plus blogger meet but i decided to use friday as a test night to see if it was comfy, it is, so expect to see more of it!
In a semi-drunken moment whilst Frankie was sorting out music me and Hay decided she should be on the blog. These are the results of that decision:

She's awesome, shout out to her i know she's reading : )

It really was a great night and it was so good to see these girls, all i could think of on Saturday was this song. . Our time together is pretty precious, come September we'll all be in different parts of the country studying so nights out like this will be a rarity, Exeter will be a quiet place with us all gone : )

Anyways, after recovering all day Saturday three other friends came over for dinner. I cooked a mean Macaroni and Cheese, we watched Anchorman which is stupidly funny and quotable. No pictures but a promise a good time was had!
After they left i took myself off to bed and woke up this morning to a beautiful day!

It was all clear skies and sunshine, lovely and just what the doctor ordered after months of grey days!

I cooked myself a really good breakfast of poached eggs & english muffins with a big cup of Earl Grey Tea then got dressed and finally we get to my OOTD (which for the record is picture heavy!)

TROUSERS:ASOS CURVE TOP:DOROTHY PERKINS SCARF:H&M CARDIGAN:EVANS RING:GIFT

Gotta love how i'm keeping it real in bed socks right?
The only mentionable thing here is the trousers really (well and the lovely ring that a friend bought me because, and i quote; "you like birds and flowers and shit" : D)
Bought them a while ago with these. I'd read that they ran a bit big and i totally agree, ASOS Curve trouser fitting is all over the place. I know i'm a strange shape but a lot of other bloggers say the same.
Negativity aside, they are super comfy and i have nothing bad to say (although a good few of my friends have nicknamed them the old lady trousers!)
For some reason though, wearing them reminded me of this:

So i started singing it and dancing and left my camera going on self timer, seriously the next two pictures are frigging hilarious.

I love my life ♥

OOTD: Hammer Time

Yeah, my new trousers make me feel a bit MC Hammer-y. Hence the title.

I'd like to start by just getting this semi-negative (and quite long winded) bit out the way first.
I ordered these trousers a couple weeks back, along with these. I got 20% off code and they had a buy before 5PM and get free next day delivery thang going on so that was lovely. However...
First up, unless my eyes are messed up, they look quite brown in the photo, sandy-browny-greenish. In real life these are bona fide army green. Like standard issue washed out uniform green. Which is fine, because i can roll with that, but the picture fo shiz mislead me. So yeah, be warned all is not as it seems. I will also add at this point that the other pair, briefly mentioned above, but not pictured in this post are less shiny and less pink that the photo, a friend called them camel, i'd agree but say with a hint of pink.
Secondly, the pair i'm posting on today are my second pair of the same ones, the first either came ripped or ripped as i put them on. Basically they're made of very soft cotton twill, which in my humble opinion is a free spirit sorta fabric and when you try and hem it, it pulls. Which incidentally is what happened with mine, the whole side seam on the left leg went. I emailed ASOS asking if i could still return even though i'd removed the tags, they sent an email back straight away informing me they'd sent out a replacement pair and given me 10% off my next order. This is obviously great customer service but if they'd have given me a choice i'd rather have exchanged for something else (i've got trouser paranoia, i keep checking the seams), and also the replacement pair were a size smaller than my original order, they still fit but they're less roomy, i couldn't be arsed with sending them back and emailing again so left it.
All in all i am still perfectly happy to shop at ASOS and still love the trousers but i felt the need to explain everything, especially about the colour.

TROUSERS&T-SHIRT:ASOS CURVE JACKET:DOROTHY PERKINS SHOES:EVANS

Despite the above issues, i do love these trousers. I think they're very true to size, comfy and easy to wear. Like this took me two seconds to throw on (i'm wearing less than 5 layers for the first time in weeks, we've had solid ice in our garden for ages but it melted this morning).
I went Christmas shopping, ugh, i hate huge crowds of people and looong queues for everything. I'm nearly done now though so hopefully i can just avoid town until Christmas. The only pre Christmas shopping i like is the big supermarket shop, for two reasons. One: fancy alcohol and food, being able to put anything in the trolley with the excuse of "It's crimbo!". Two: it's crowded and people are rude and ignorant so i get to put my war face on, i'm tempted to actually paint myself blue or something this year, i march through Tesco getting my stuff and take no shit, it's the best way to blow off steam : )

You'll notice i have once again taken my photos in a slightly different way. Basically from now on it will hopefully always look like this, now i've worked out that i can rest my tripod on my bed and still take level pictures. Please excuse the mess of clothes in the corner, i'm a proper messy madam sometimes.

Oh, yeah, i got some awesome £10 shoes today and new beauty stuff so i will likely add these to the "Stuff i need to post on" list. (I christmas shop for myself as well as everyone else, do any of you do this?!? : D)

V.S.

ASOS CURVE LOVE.
And on the month i really need to save money. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

DRESSES:

The blue one reminds me of my other similarly coloured ASOS Curve dress but i'm loving the different sleeves. The black showcases my love for texture if i'm working an all black thing.

TOPS:
I have a strange thing for hook and eye fastenings. I think it's to do with my love for corsets where you often see them. I also like the blue version of this'un.

TROUSERS:

There was a Musings of a Fatshionista Facebook post on the top pair. Agreeing with the post i wish they came in black; aside from that the cut and fabric are on point. I've posted on the bottom pair before, not a lot of love for these but now i've seen them on real people, other bloggers in fact, i'm so in love it hurts, i spy another frugal month.

MISC:
Old. School. Glam. Nothing else to say.

I'm not sure what the obsession with shiny fabric is about, it's not like it tends to be hugely flattering (i want to eject this word from my style consciousness, and I'm trying, but stick with me) but i have to admit i think the strong studio lighting used in these shots amplifies the shiny a whole lot. And also, when you look at the construction and style of the garments i think shiny is becoming something i'm much less afraid of.
ASOS Curve has given me so much already, and now it's curing my shineaphobia. I'm rather grateful for this online gem of a store.

It's like, a fashion entity heard me

Just days after i bitch and moan concerning trousers, not one but two pairs turn up on the ASOS Curve website that i like.

BAM:

Even though the top pair are shiny, i still like. And I've been thinking about getting a pair of black skinny cropped numbers, for 50's inspired outfits where a circle skirt and full blown petticoat is not appropriate, but jeans just will not do.

I find it quite amazing that this has happened. I wonder if whoever/whatever heard is working on those velvet trews for me? Yes. Please.

Trouser Me

Standing outside in the freezing cold the other night wearing a beautiful but not so warmth retaining outfit i came to the stark realisation that i might not make it through winter with only tights or leggings to cover my legs. I decided that this winter, i want, some trousers. I want to be this well trousered:
Image From Fatshionable.

I planned to shop around for trousers today. And to spice this post up a bit there was going to be changing room pictures and little captions and everything. But after trying on one pair in Evans i cut my trouser shopping short.
I tried on a pair in what is normally my size and as per usual with trousers, they looked like utter shiz.
It's a mixture of my weird as hell hip shape and being in between sizes that makes them all look so rubbish. I tried on a 24, they fitted, but, as i may have previously mentioned, looked nasty. I could size up but they'd be too big, and i don't like having to pull my kecks up every two fucking seconds. WELL LOOK AT THAT TROUSERS, YOU MADE ME SWEAR ON THE BLOG, WHICH I TRY NOT TO DO, THANKS!
These horrible things mentioned above also tend to apply to jeans a lot of the time, i know i am in no way alone with jeans, i feel your pain if you too are never happy with your denim leg covers.(jeans also present the other problem of not being able to get my calves into skinnies so i have to buy straight cut and sew them to fit how i like)

I really want to wear trousers, and i feel sick to my stomach with envy every time i see someone wearing them well, like that girl in the fabric shop with her green cotton military inspired peg leg numbers; wide waistband and antique gold buttons included, *cries*.

I've seen a few pairs i like but each present a different problem.

This Style369 pair are 100% viscose, which could well mean jersey, the mother of all cheap clingy fabrics, and not my best friend in trouser form.

This ASOS pair could have been the holy grail of trousers, i could have kept my legs warm and rocked the velvet trend but oooh nooo, guess what, they only go up to an 18. BOOOOOO, make them for the curve range now!

This ASOS Curve pair are what i may buy next month. But i may not. Because being an actual human being, my thighs touch and hell, they even rub together when i walk, which can mean bald patch thighs on these bad boys as they're made of cord. And I'm not just guessing that it'll happen, I've had the problem before.

Have i dragged you all down with my moaning and ranting yet? I don't mean to be a debbie downer but it gets frustrating.
I'm not completely defeated by the whole situation, i can live without trousers. And if i really feel like my need for a pair is crucial i can try making some.
Just being the impatient madam that i am, i want them now, in a lovely style at a reasonable price.

God I'm a nightmare. Damn You Trousers!
